Now well into the twilight phase of Hans-Joachim Roedelius' 42-year recording career, his radical music, emerging from the chaos of 1960s experimentalism, has become a fully-formed language, mastered by a new generation of younger musicians - such as To Rococo Rot's Stefan Schneider. So much so that blend of the old man's piano etudes and the latter's electronica is almost telepathic here.

The formula here, with Roedelius supplying gossamer threads of melodic piano lines and his collaborator weaving electronics around it, has been done elsewhere, particularly in his works with Tim Story, but this is still a beautifully played album, and to add further weight there's also just-so hints of Schneider's muscular bass lines - familiar to Rococo fans - entering and leaving the mix, as if injecting a touch of Dusseldorf into the Alpine ambience.
